How do you mix Essential Oils with Carrier Oils?
When we apply essential oils topically to our bodies, we need to ensure they are at a safe dilution so as not to cause sensitivity or irritation. Carriers oils make diluting essential oil easy and convenient.
Carrier oils are used to dilute essential oils and carry them to your skin. Some of the most commonly used carrier oils are sunflower, jojoba or coconut, as these oils are absorbed easily and don’t cause clogged pores or breakouts. Diluting essential oils is a critical safety practice, and these plant-based carrier oils make that possible!
When using essential oils, it’s usually recommended to use between 1-5 drops of an essential oil mixed with 10ml of carrier oil.
In addition, you can dilute them by adding them to a lotion, cream or body butter. For example, if you love the smell of one of our essential oil blends, you can add a few drops of each to your favourite lotion or body butter. The lotion or body butter will act as the carrier oil, ensuring the safety of applying it directly to the skin without any risk of irritation.
